Vecino: "We Know Parma Are Coming In Strong, With A Series Of Positive Results Behind Them. But At This Stage, Only Results Matter. The Table Is Extremely Tight, And We Can't Afford Mistakes."

After a vital 2-0 victory against Genoa at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium — with goals from Taty Castellanos and Boulaye Dia — Lazio are ready to face their next challenge. The Biancoceleste return to action tomorrow, April 28, at 8:45 p.m., hosting Parma at the Stadio Olimpico.

With only five games remaining in the Serie A season, and a fierce battle for Champions League qualification underway, Lazio cannot afford any slip-ups. Inter and Napoli may be contesting the Scudetto, but the race behind them is incredibly tight. Every point now carries immense weight, especially with Lazio sitting just one point behind fourth-placed Bologna.

Midfielder Matias Vecino spoke ahead of the match through the club’s official match program, underlining the high stakes of the encounter.

“We know Parma are coming in strong, with a series of positive results behind them,” Vecino noted. “It's another reminder that from now until the end of the season, there will be no easy games.”

Reflecting on the important victory in Genoa, Vecino acknowledged the unusual buildup to the match, with the Europa League exit still fresh. “A lot of unexpected things happened leading up to Genoa, that's true. But at this stage, only results matter. The table is extremely tight, and we can't afford mistakes.”

The clash against Parma carries additional personal significance for Vecino. The Uruguayan veteran is nearing an impressive milestone — 300 appearances in Serie A, a record unmatched by any of his compatriots in Italy.

“I’m proud to be approaching such a milestone after more than a decade in Italy,” he said. “I’ve played many matches in this league and I hope to keep going for a long time.”

With the finish line in sight, Lazio is fully focused. Against a rejuvenated Parma side coached by Cristian Chivu — who recently stunned Juventus — the Biancoceleste know that only maximum effort and determination will keep their Champions League dreams alive.
