[Serie A] Lazio - Roma = 1 - 1

The latest chapter of the heated Derby della Capitale concluded without a victor, as Lazio and Roma played out a 1-1 draw in their highly anticipated clash at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night (April 13, 2025). The match was part of the 32nd round of the 2024–25 Serie A season.

Heading into the fixture, both Roman clubs were neck and neck in the standings—Lazio sitting in 6th and Roma just behind in 7th—each vying for a stronger foothold in the race for European competition spots next season.

Lazio showed early initiative with Alessio Romagnoli nearly opening the scoring via a header that was expertly denied by Roma’s goalkeeper, Mile Svilar. The breakthrough finally came just after halftime in the 47th minute, when Romagnoli rose again—this time successfully—nodding home a well-delivered free kick from Luca Pellegrini to give Lazio the lead.

Roma, however, responded with determination. In the 69th minute, Matias Soule—on loan from Juventus—struck a fierce shot past the Lazio defense after linking up with Alexis Saelemaekers. The goal marked Soule's fourth of the league campaign and brought Roma level.

Despite both sides pushing hard in the closing minutes, neither was able to find the winning goal. The draw leaves both teams with a point each and no movement in their respective positions.

The result also cemented a unique milestone for Roma coach Claudio Ranieri. The veteran tactician, set to retire at the end of the season, maintained his unbeaten record in Rome derbies as manager of the Giallorossi.
