[Official] Lazio VS Parma Rescheduled By Serie A To Honor Papal Funeral, Offering Extra Rest For The Squad

April 24, 2025

Lazio's pursuit of a top-four finish in Serie A will take a slight pause, as their upcoming fixture against Parma has been officially postponed in light of the funeral of Pope Francis, scheduled for Saturday, April 26. The match has now been rescheduled for Monday, April 28 at 20:45 local time, giving Marco Baroni’s squad additional time to regroup and prepare for the crucial home clash.

The decision, announced in Official Press Release No. 214 by Serie A, was made following the recommendation of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) to suspend all sporting events on the day of the funeral in honor of the late Holy Father. Lazio’s match is one of three Serie A games affected, alongside Inter vs Roma and Como vs Genoa.

This change comes shortly after Lazio’s previous fixture against Genoa was also moved to a midweek slot, creating a tightly packed schedule. While the adjustments initially caused some frustration due to the late communication, the club now sees this latest shift as a welcome opportunity to fine-tune preparations during a critical stage in the season.

Coach Baroni and his staff will use the extended break to recover key players and maintain momentum following their strong performance in the rescheduled clash against Genoa. With the team now just a point away from the Champions League zone, every match counts—and this extra time could prove decisive.

With focus now fixed on the Monday night fixture at the Stadio Olimpico, Lazio’s determination to finish strong remains unwavering.
