Lazio Intend To Trigger Tavares’ Buyout Clause From Arsenal, Eye Immediate Sale For Profit
Lazio are reportedly in line to make a significant profit on Arsenal loanee Nuno Tavares in the upcoming summer transfer window, after setting a price tag nearly eight times higher than his current buyout clause.
According to reports on Tuesday (08/04), the capital club is preparing to cash in quickly on the Portuguese full-back, who has impressed since arriving on loan from Arsenal last summer. Tavares has made a strong impact in Serie A, delivering eight assists in his first eight league appearances, which has dramatically boosted his market value.
Calciomercato.com reports that Lazio have now valued the 24-year-old at around €40 million—far above the €5 million buy option they agreed with Arsenal, not including the initial loan fee.
Given his rise in form and market interest, Lazio are expected to activate the purchase clause and could then consider reselling him within the same transfer window if a lucrative offer arrives. Arsenal, however, would still benefit from any future sale thanks to a 20% sell-on clause included in the loan agreement.
Marco Baroni's team appears ready to make a smart financial move by leveraging Tavares' impressive form to secure a significant profit, especially with reports suggesting that both Inter and Milan are keeping a close eye on the Portuguese defender as a potential addition for next season.
