Baroni: "We Accept The Draw Because The Team Showed Great Energy, Boosted By Our Fans, But It’s A Shame We Didn’t Get The Win."
Lazio head coach Marco Baroni expressed frustration following his team's 1-1 draw against city rivals AS Roma in the fiercely contested Derby della Capitale at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday evening (April 13, 2025), part of the 32nd matchday of the 2024–25 Serie A season.
Lazio took the lead through a header by Alessio Romagnoli in the 47th minute, but Roma responded in the 69th minute with a powerful strike from Matias Soule, ensuring both teams left the field with a point apiece.
“We should’ve won. It’s disappointing because the team gave everything,” Baroni said in his post-match interview with DAZN. He emphasized that Lazio had carved out several key chances but were ultimately let down by a lack of luck. “We didn’t have that bit of fortune today,” he added.
Baroni believed his side deserved more from the performance. “We accept the draw because the team showed great energy, boosted by our fans, but it’s a shame we didn’t get the win,” he concluded.
The draw keeps Lazio in 6th place with 56 points, just two ahead of Roma who sit in 7th with 54, as both sides continue to battle for European qualification.
