[Official] Juventus Dismiss Motta As Head Coach, Appoint Tudor As His Successor
Juventus have officially parted ways with Thiago Motta just eight months after his appointment, announcing Igor Tudor as the new head coach.
“Juventus FC confirms that Thiago Motta has been relieved of his duties as head coach,” the club stated, as reported by Football Italia. “We thank Motta and his entire staff for their commitment, professionalism, and the dedication they’ve shown in recent months. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”
The club also announced that Igor Tudor will take over as the new first-team coach and is set to lead his first training session on Monday, March 24.
Motta departs with a record of 18 wins, 16 draws, and 8 losses across all competitions. His tenure included a Champions League playoff exit, a Coppa Italia quarter-final loss to Empoli, and defeat in the Italian Super Cup against AC Milan.
Tudor steps in as interim coach until the end of the season, with an option to extend his contract.
The Croatian is no newcomer to the club, having played for Juventus from 1998 to 2007. He later returned in the 2020/21 season as Andrea Pirlo’s assistant.
Tudor recently had a brief spell at Lazio after Maurizio Sarri stepped down. However, he also resigned just 79 days into the role after his proposal to overhaul the squad was rejected by club president Claudio Lotito.
