Lazio’s Patric To Miss Remainder Of Season For Ankle Surgery

March 27, 2025

Lazio have confirmed they will be without one of their key defenders, Patric, for the remainder of the season after he opted for surgery to finally resolve a persistent ankle injury. In a heartfelt message to the supporters, the Spanish centre‑back explained his situation and the difficult decision he faced.

Patric first injured his ankle in November during the match against Como, but believing it wasn’t serious, he continued playing for another six weeks—managing the pain with anti‑inflammatories and injections. After extensive testing in Barcelona, doctors diagnosed a longitudinal tear of the peroneus brevis tendon. He was given two choices: immediate surgery or conservative treatment. Determined not to miss the season, he chose the latter and even returned to action in recent Serie A fixtures against Udinese and Milan, as well as both Europa League games versus Viktoria Plzen.

Despite his best efforts and a lighter workload, the pain persisted and the ankle remained unstable. Realising he could no longer continue playing through the discomfort, Patric decided to undergo surgery to repair the injury properly. He pledged to work tirelessly on his rehabilitation and promised fans he will come back stronger than ever.
