Fabiani Holds Talks For Durosinmi's Agent As Lazio Eye Summer Striker Reinforcement
Lazio sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, has reportedly met with representatives of Viktoria Plzen forward, Rafiu Durosinmi, reigniting the club's interest in signing the Nigerian striker after previously monitoring him last summer.
Durosinmi, originally from Lagos, started his football career in Nigeria before moving to the Czech Republic, where he joined Karvina before signing with Viktoria Plzen in 2023. While not a regular starter, he has been productive this season, scoring five goals in nine appearances. One of those goals was a crucial equalizer against Lazio in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 clash on Thursday.
The striker found the net with a well-placed header past Ivan Provedel, briefly bringing his team level. However, despite being reduced to nine men, Lazio managed to snatch a late winner through Gustav Isaksen.
According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Fabiani took advantage of the trip to Plzen to hold discussions with Durosinmi’s representatives. Lazio, having renewed their interest in the player, are now considering a potential transfer valued at approximately €10 million.
The 21-year-old Nigerian forward is known for his height, versatility, agility, and strong dribbling ability—qualities that could provide a much-needed boost for Le Aquile. Manager Marco Baroni has struggled to find a reliable replacement for the injured Taty Castellanos, with Tijjani Noslin and Loum Tchaouna unable to fill the attacking void. Meanwhile, Boulaye Dia has been deployed as an attacking midfielder rather than a striker.
Lazio’s pursuit of Durosinmi suggest they see him as a key solution to their frontline struggles.
