[Europa League] Lazio - Viktoria Plzen = 1 - 1
Lazio progressed to the Europa League quarter-finals after a 1-1 draw against Viktoria Plzen in the second leg of their last-16 clash at the Stadio Olimpico, Rome. The home side managed to avoid defeat thanks to Alessio Romagnoli's goal, which canceled out Pavel Sulc's opener for Plzen.
Statistically, Lazio had the upper hand, enjoying 53% possession and registering 15 shots, five of which were on target. However, it was Plzen who initiated the early attacks, with Lukas Kalvach testing Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, who made a crucial save.
Plzen continued to threaten, with Matej Vydra's shot striking the post before being collected by Provedel. Despite the early pressure, Lazio responded with their own opportunities, including a powerful strike from Pedro Rodriguez that was denied by Plzen goalkeeper Martin Jedlicka.
In the second half, Plzen broke the deadlock in the 52nd minute when Pavel Sulc found the net with a well-taken volley that Provedel couldn't stop.
Lazio, however, refused to back down and found an equalizer in the 77th minute. Alessio Romagnoli headed home from a Mattia Zaccagni corner, leveling the score at 1-1. The result remained unchanged until the final whistle.
Despite the draw, Lazio advanced to the quarter-finals with a 3-2 aggregate victory, having won the first leg 2-1 at Plzen’s home ground the previous week. The Biancoceleste will now face Bodo/Glimt in the next round.
