Chiesa Set For Liverpool Departure, Lazio Are Closely Monitoring The Situation

Lazio are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Federico Chiesa from Liverpool in the upcoming summer transfer window, offering the Euro 2020 winner a potential escape route after a difficult debut season in England.

The 27-year-old winger, formerly of Juventus and Fiorentina, has struggled to make an impact since joining Liverpool for €13 million last summer. Despite initial excitement around his Premier League move, Chiesa has found playing time hard to come by under manager Arne Slot, featuring in just 11 matches across all competitions and failing to start a single Premier League game.

Even though he showed flashes of his talent off the bench in last weekend’s Carabao Cup final, it wasn't enough to help the Reds secure silverware. Now, Chiesa is reportedly eager to leave Anfield in search of regular minutes and a return to form.

According to reports from TV Play, Lazio are one of the clubs closely monitoring Chiesa's situation and could make a move this summer. The Biancoceleste are prepared to offer the Italian international a chance to relaunch his career in the capital, with Liverpool said to be open to a deal in the region of €15 million plus a minor sell-on clause.

However, negotiations could prove tricky, especially regarding personal terms. Chiesa’s current salary of around €7 million per season is more than double the wage of any current Lazio player, presenting a major hurdle. Additionally, interest from other Serie A heavyweights like AC Milan and Napoli could complicate matters further.

Despite the challenges, bringing in a player of Chiesa’s caliber would be a statement of intent for Lazio as they continue to strengthen their squad under Marco Baroni. Whether or not this move materializes, the club’s ambition is clear — and fans will be watching closely as the summer window approaches.
