[Serie A] Lazio - Monza = 5 - 1

In the 24th round of the 2024/2025 Italian League, Lazio secured a dominant 5–1 victory over Monza at the Stadio Olimpico, moving up to fourth place in Serie A. This win marked their first home triumph in five league games, although it was also the seventh consecutive home match in which they conceded a goal.

Lazio broke the deadlock in the 31st minute when Adam Marusic capitalized on Taty Castellanos’ headed delivery, finishing the first half at 1–0. In the second half, the team continued its aggressive approach. Pedro Rodriguez doubled the score in the 57th minute after converting a pass from Castellanos to make it 2–0. Five minutes later, Castellanos himself extended the lead to 3–0, expertly finishing a move set up by Mattia Zaccagni.

Lazio furthered their dominance when Pedro Rodriguez scored his second goal—this time after receiving a pass from Tijjani Noslin—to push the score to 4–0. Monza then earned a chance to get back into the game when midfielder Manuel Lazzari handled the ball in the penalty area. Stefano Sensi stepped up to convert the resulting penalty in the 86th minute, narrowing the deficit to 4–1 as Lazio’s goalkeeper, Ivan Provedel, couldn’t prevent the goal. However, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru put the game beyond doubt in the 88th minute, finishing a play initiated by a through pass from Nicolo Rovella to bring the final score to 5–1.

With the three points, Lazio now sits in fourth place with 45 points from 24 matches, trailing Napoli at the top by nine points. Conversely, Monza remains at the bottom of the standings with 13 points from 24 matches, still eight points adrift of the safe zone.
