Impressive Europa League Performance Spurs Lazio Interest in Edvin Kurtulus
Lazio have reportedly been impressed by Ludogorets defender Edvin Kurtulus' standout performances in this season’s Europa League. Head coach Marco Baroni’s side has reached out to the Bulgarian club to inquire about the defender’s availability for a potential move next summer.
Despite finishing at the top of a competitive group of 36 teams, Lazio’s campaign was only halted by Braga’s win in their final match and a contentious draw against Ludogorets at the Stadio Olimpico. According to FotbollDirekt, the club’s management is particularly taken with Kurtulus' solid defensive displays—especially impressive given that it’s his first Europa League campaign.
While Lazio have opened discussions with Ludogorets, they have yet to present a firm offer. Nevertheless, the 24-year-old remains a target for the club, with a price tag of around €13 million set by the Bulgarian champions.
Born and raised in Sweden with roots in Kosovo, Kurtulus initially represented Sweden at the U21 level before making his senior debut for the national team in 2022. His club career began at Halmstads, continued with a move to Hammarby in 2022, and culminated in his transfer to Ludogorets last summer in a deal valued at €1.45 million.
