Elseid Hysaj Sidelined For 40 Days With Thigh Injury, Disrupting Baroni's Plans
Troubling news for coach Baroni: just as he was finding his footing with the new Lazio lineup, Albanian full-back Elseid Hysaj is set to be sidelined for at least a month. The club announced that tests on Hysaj have revealed a moderate injury—a lesion in the biceps femoris of his left thigh.
Hysaj, who picked up the injury during the match against Cagliari, underwent a full series of medical examinations. According to the doctors, the injury is moderate and will require a minimum recovery period of 40 days. Consequently, his participation in the Europa League Round of 16 matches scheduled for March 6 (first leg) and March 13 (second leg) is now in doubt.
Lazio’s official statement on their website read:
"S.S. Lazio announces that the footballer Elseid Hysaj underwent clinical and instrumental tests today at the Villa Mafalda Clinic. The tests revealed a medium-grade lesion to the biceps femoris of the left thigh, suffered during the last match against Cagliari. The footballer has already started the specific treatment for the case and will be subjected to daily clinical monitoring to quantify recovery times."
