Baroni: "We Are Not A Team That Relies On Counter-Attacks. Our Aim Is Always To Play Attractive Football That Reflects The Passion Of Our Players."
Lazio coach Marco Baroni expressed his frustration after his side settled for just one point in a 2-2 draw against Napoli on Saturday night. Baroni lamented the avoidable errors that cost his team twice, despite a commendable performance overall.
Gustav Isaksen put Lazio ahead with an impressive long-range effort, sparking joy at the Stadio Olimpico. However, a misjudgment by Lazio's goalkeeper Ivan Provedel allowed Giacomo Raspadori to level the score. In the second half, an awkward touch from Adam Marusic resulted in an own goal, gifting Napoli the lead, until substitute Boulaye Dia rescued a point for the home side.
While praising his team's intensity and passion, Baroni admitted, "We wanted to secure all three points, but conceding two avoidable goals is disappointing. We have certain weaknesses to improve upon, and we'll address them. Our aim is always to play attractive football that reflects the passion of our players."
The 61-year-old also highlighted the club's commitment to its distinct style of play. "We are not a team that relies on counter-attacks. We impose our own rhythm and take calculated risks rather than simply kicking the ball forward," he explained.
