Baroni: "Venezia Was A Tough Opponent, And It Was A Physical Match. They Didn’t Let Us Find Our Rhythm, And We Were A Bit Weak In Attack."

Lazio coach Marco Baroni discussed his team's lackluster performance after their 0-0 draw with Venezia in Serie A on Saturday (22/02) in Venice.

Lazio returned to Rome with just one point from the away match against Venezia, which ended in a scoreless tie. The result was disappointing, as the team struggled to perform at their usual level, with Venezia nearly coming away with the win, particularly in the final 20 minutes.

In a post-match interview, Baroni attributed his team's underwhelming performance to Venezia's playing style and the relatively small pitch, which made it hard for Lazio to find the space they prefer to play in.

"We're disappointed with the result, it was a missed opportunity. Venezia was a tough opponent, and it was a physical match. They didn’t let us find our rhythm, and we were a bit weak in attack. We had a good chance through Dia, and if that had gone in, we’d be talking about a different match," said Baroni via LalazioSiamoNoi.

"That said, the team showed great resilience. We're not a physically dominant side, so it’s normal to struggle in a game with a small pitch and high pressure. We just needed one clear chance, and we found it but couldn’t capitalize on it."

"For me, that’s all that was missing—a bit more rhythm in attack. We need to recover quickly, as we’re back on the field in two days for the competition we love, the Coppa Italia."
