On Sunday (9/2), Lazio put on an impressive display, defeating Monza 5-1 in a crucial match for their Champions League ambitions. Coach Marco Baroni was full of praise for the whole team, highlighting the significant impact of the substitutes. Pedro scored two goals, Fisayu Dele-Bashiru added another, and Tijjani Noslin set up a goal with his assist. Baroni emphasized how essential it is to have bench players who can turn the game around.

"It was an important match in every sense," Baroni told DAZN.

He even joked about Pedro’s longevity: "When Pedro mentioned it might be his last year, I replied, 'No, you still have four more years ahead.'" He continued, "Pedro was exceptional. His attitude was inspiring, and I hope it influences the younger players. It’s great to see someone training with so much joy. We’re thrilled to have him on our team, and I’m proud to coach him. I look forward to seeing his career flourish with many more goals."

Baroni also pointed out that swift ball recovery was key to their success. "We pressed hard against a well-organized defense, so regaining possession was crucial. We needed to focus on preventive marking and making forward runs. Although our finishing in the first half wasn’t perfect, we created plenty of chances."

The coach further praised Nicolò Rovella, noting his continuous improvement, especially as a box-to-box midfielder who contributed an assist during the match. "Rovella is an extraordinary player who keeps getting better, both in games and in training," Baroni concluded.

With this win, Lazio not only strengthen their position at the top of the Italian League but also demonstrate the depth and quality of a squad where both starting players and substitutes can make a significant impact.
