Rossi: "The Squad Require Better Balance. To Play The Way Baroni Wants, Maintaining Top Physical Condition Is Crucial. A New Midfielder Is Essential To Give Players Like Guendouzi And Rovella Some Rest."
Lazio are making strides in the transfer market, kicking off with the arrival of Ibrahimovic. Former coach Delio Rossi shared his thoughts on the Biancoceleste's latest signing and the team's current state during an interview with Radiosei.
"Thus far, Lazio have been exceeding expectations given their squad. To play the way Baroni wants, maintaining top physical condition is crucial. Right now, the team seems to be losing some of their sharpness and depth. Against Como, they gave up opportunities on the counterattack. However, I appreciated their ability to respond—sometimes matches like these can end in a loss," Rossi said.
On the new signing, Rossi commented: "The acquisition of Ibrahimovic? I know him; he's an attacking winger. Investing in young players is always a positive step. His arrival shouldn't be viewed as a quick fix or something to make the squad more cohesive immediately, but rather as a long-term prospect. It's important not to judge him too quickly but instead focus on his potential. Lazio is unlikely to spend heavily on players right now, so they’ll need to consider trades or sales to strengthen the squad."
He also addressed the team's needs: "The squad require better balance. A new midfielder is essential to give players like Guendouzi and Rovella some rest. Moving Dele-Bashiru further back isn’t the solution. They need someone with the qualities of Ricci or Leiva. As for Isaksen, he’s struggling to showcase his abilities, and perhaps he hasn’t fully realized his own potential yet."
