Romagnoli: "I Feel Great Here, This Is Where I Wanted To Be. As Long As I Can Contribute, I Will. My Job Is Simply To Work Hard For The Team."
Alessio Romagnoli joined coach Marco Baroni in the pre-match press conference ahead of Lazio’s final group-stage match against Braga in the Europa League. Here is his statement:
When asked about dealing with criticism and his long-term future, Romagnoli remained unfazed:
"I get this question a lot. Criticism doesn’t concern me; I focus on giving my best. As for my future, that’s not something I can answer. Some have said I should have left before, or that I will leave. But I feel great here, this is where I wanted to be. As long as I can contribute, I will. Beyond that, we’ll see what happens."
When questioned about Lazio’s occasional poor starts in games, Romagnoli clarified that the issue lies more in their reaction to setbacks:
"It’s not about approaching games incorrectly; our challenge is responding to difficult moments. Against Roma and Fiorentina, we conceded early goals. It happens, but the key is having the mental strength to stay in the game and bounce back. That’s an area where we need to improve."
Asked whether he feels under-recognized as a key figure in the team, Romagnoli welcomed the lack of attention:
"That’s fine by me—it allows me to work in peace. I’ve never liked being in the spotlight. My focus is on performing well and giving my all. Success naturally brings recognition. We had a solid defensive record in my first season, and now there’s a lot of talk about young players, which is deserved. Many are developing well. My job is simply to work hard for the team."
Romagnoli emphasized that Lazio’s success will depend on their own ambition:
"It’s up to us. We need to have the mindset to win every game. Growth comes with victories, and we know we have the potential to achieve something significant. We can’t afford to relax—we must keep working hard. Tomorrow’s game is another big test. Despite having a depleted squad, we’ll give everything because our goal is to finish first and win as much as possible."
