Lazio's 125-Year Celebration: A Historic Milestone For Biancoceleste Fans
January 9 is a day that holds special significance for Lazio fans. On this day in 1900, the oldest football club in Rome was founded. Now, 125 years later, on January 9, 2025, more than 5,000 passionate supporters gathered at Piazza della Libertà to commemorate this monumental anniversary.
A banner proudly displayed by Biancoceleste fans read: "125 years of love for this shirt. SS Lazio as a battle cry!" The celebration reached its peak just before midnight, marking a night to remember.
The club plans to continue the festivities during Friday’s match against Como at the Stadio Olimpico, kicking off at 8:45 p.m. Marco Canigiani, Lazio’s head of marketing, shared details about the event and a new commemorative shirt in an interview with Radio Laziale.
“We’ve prepared something truly unique for the Olimpico—a special light show unlike anything seen before. This will be a moment to celebrate our Lazio before the match,” Canigiani said. “The new shirt, which will debut on January 9, has a retro-inspired design that reflects our club’s rich history.”
Discussing the match against Como, Canigiani expressed optimism about the turnout: “Around 5,000 to 6,000 tickets have been sold so far. We’re hoping to surpass the 40,000 mark to make this celebration even more memorable.”
For Lazio fans, this anniversary is not just a tribute to the past but a celebration of enduring passion and pride for their beloved club.
