Fabiani: "Fazzini Is An Exceptional Talent, But We Are Also Evaluating Other Players. I Prefer Not To Overemphasize Any Single Name, As That Often Leads To Complications."
Lazio's sporting director, Angelo Fabiani, has disclosed the club's interest in Empoli midfielder Jacopo Fazzini, though he clarified that the January transfer window involves multiple targets beyond Fazzini.
Recent reports have suggested that Lazio are negotiating with Empoli to secure the young midfielder, with rumors hinting that a deal is nearing completion. When asked about Fazzini's potential move to Formello, Fabiani acknowledged the player’s talent but emphasized a broader strategy for the transfer window.
"Fazzini is an exceptional talent, but we are also evaluating other players. The January window is an opportunity to improve, and while improvement is our goal, it's not a promise but a guiding principle for our approach," Fabiani told Tuttomercatoweb.
He added, "There are many talented players like Fazzini, so we'll monitor developments in the coming days. However, I prefer not to overemphasize any single name, as that often leads to complications."
Fabiani also addressed Gaetano Castrovilli's situation and shared insights into Lazio’s transfer philosophy.
"We signed Castrovilli last summer on a one-year deal, fully aware of his physical challenges. While his ACL injury hasn't resurfaced, other issues affected his performance. He delivered when called upon but lacked consistent minutes, which hindered his progress," Fabiani explained.
He continued, "Replacing players like Rovella, Guendouzi, or Dele-Bashiru is tough due to the higher standards we’ve set. Our objective is to follow the successful models of clubs like Feyenoord, Celtic, and Atalanta. We’re five months into a three-year project, steadily working towards our vision."
