Uncertainty Surrounds Gaetano Castrovilli's Future At Lazio Amid Injury Concerns And Transfer Speculations

Gaetano Castrovilli's future at Lazio remains uncertain, as the Italian midfielder has struggled to make an impact due to a lingering knee injury since joining the club.  

According to Corriere dello Sport, Lazio will closely monitor Castrovilli's recovery until January. If the 27-year-old fails to regain fitness and readiness for regular play, the club may consider terminating his contract or facilitating a transfer to another team.  

Coach Marco Baroni is in need of reinforcements in midfield, particularly a versatile player capable of operating in both 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 formations. While Castrovilli was initially expected to fulfill this role, his performances have fallen short of expectations.  

Alfredo Pedullà reports that Castrovilli has a two-year contract extension clause contingent upon reaching a specific number of appearances. However, if his situation does not improve significantly, an early separation between the player and the club appears increasingly likely.  

Given the uncertainty surrounding Castrovilli, Lazio has already begun exploring alternative options in the transfer market. Sporting director Angelo Fabiani is reportedly focused on identifying talented young players available at reasonable prices. The club is prioritizing loan deals with purchase options, although any transfer activity will depend on the final decision regarding Castrovilli's status.
