Udinese Explore Castrovilli's Transfer As Lazio Consider Midfield Reinforcements

Udinese have reportedly inquired about the availability of Lazio midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli, whose future at Formello remains uncertain. Marco Baroni has yet to fully utilize the player, who joined last summer but has been hampered by minor physical issues.

Lazio acquired the 27-year-old Castrovilli on a free transfer last summer following his release from Fiorentina, where his career had been marred by injuries. Despite being a Euro 2020 champion, Castrovilli has struggled to make an impact at Lazio, with recurring physical setbacks limiting him to just seven Serie A appearances this season, including only one start. He was also excluded from the Europa League squad.

Recent weeks have seen increasing speculation about Castrovilli’s future, with some reports suggesting a potential departure in January. However, this scenario appears less likely now, especially with Matias Vecino sidelined for several months due to injury.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedullà, Udinese have emerged as a potential destination for Castrovilli. While the Friuli club have sufficient midfield options, they have expressed interest in the player and may propose a swap deal involving one of their own players.

It remains uncertain whether Castrovilli will stay at Formello or move during the January transfer window. Meanwhile, Lazio are reportedly keen to bolster their midfield depth with a younger player, though the specific target has yet to be revealed.
