Pulcini: "I Never Said What Il Messaggero Reported. I Would Never Comment On Players From Other Clubs. I Was Genuinely Shocked By The Misinterpretation."

Lazio's medical chief, Dr. Ivo Pulcini, has addressed the controversy surrounding his recent interview with Il Messaggero.

The interview reportedly claimed that a Serie A player failed a medical examination in 2019 due to heart issues. Some speculated this referred to Milan defender Strahinja Pavlović, whose transfer to Lazio fell through at the time. However, Pulcini has denied making such a statement.

Speaking on the television program QSVS, Pulcini stated, "I never said what Il Messaggero reported, and I am awaiting their correction. I would never comment on players from other clubs, nor have I issued medical certifications for Serie A players."

The incident has prompted an investigation by FIGC prosecutor Giuseppe Chine. Pulcini maintains that his remarks were misunderstood, explaining that his focus during the interview was on Lazio’s first aid training program for players.

"I was genuinely shocked by the misinterpretation," Pulcini clarified. "I merely described how we’ve trained Lazio players in basic first aid for emergencies, like the situation involving Edoardo Bove."

Pulcini expressed hope that Il Messaggero would issue a correction soon, putting an end to the ongoing speculation.
