[Official] Milan Appoint Conceição As Head Coach, Succeeding Fonseca

AC Milan have officially appointed a new coach, with Sergio Conceição taking charge of the team that includes Tijjani Reijnders and his teammates.

"AC Milan announce the appointment of Sergio Paulo Marceneiro da Conceição as head coach of the men's first team until June 30, 2026," the club stated on their website.

Conceição succeeds fellow Portuguese coach Paulo Fonseca, who was dismissed just hours earlier following a 1-1 draw against AS Roma, leaving Milan stagnant in eighth place in Serie A.

Securing Conceição's services was straightforward for Milan, as the 50-year-old coach has been unattached since stepping down as Porto's manager last June.

A former winger for Lazio and Inter Milan, Conceição brings a wealth of experience and tactical expertise. Known for his 4-3-2-1 formation, Conceição emphasizes possession-based football and aims to make his teams play an attractive style of soccer.

During his tenure at Porto, he achieved significant success, winning his first managerial trophy and collecting numerous titles, including three Portuguese League championships, four Taça de Portugal titles, one Taça da Liga, and three Portuguese Super Cups.

Conceição's impressive achievements have also earned him individual accolades, with the Portuguese League Coach of the Year award under his belt three times.
