[Official] Atlas Confirm The Signing Of Lazio's Diego González On A One-Year Loan Deal

Atlas have officially announced their latest signing for the 2025 Clausura Tournament: Paraguayan forward Diego González, who joins from Europe, specifically from Lazio in Italy's Serie A. 

The young striker will embark on his second stint in Mexican soccer, having previously excelled in the Expansion League with Celaya. His impressive performances with the Cajeteros served as a springboard to the Paraguayan national team and ultimately secured him a move to Lazio. 

The 21-year-old, who will turn 22 on January 7, strengthens Gonzalo Pineda's squad on a one-year loan deal, which includes an option to purchase. 

Following the official announcement, González shared his thoughts, emphasizing how the support he received from Mexican soccer played a key role in his decision to return. 

"Returning to Mexico is something special for me because I have a deep appreciation for the country. It supported me during my time in the Expansion League, and this will be a great experience," he remarked.

González joins Atlas as part of the team's ongoing restructuring under Gonzalo Pineda. He is set to play a pivotal role and is eager to contribute, particularly by mentoring the club's younger players.
