Lazio Climb To 24th In UEFA Club Rankings Following Strong European Campaign

Lazio are making impressive strides in the UEFA club rankings, thanks to a series of strong performances. The team, led by coach Marco Baroni, secured victories in their first four group-stage matches against Dynamo Kiev, Nice, Twente, and Porto, which significantly boosted their position. After a draw with Ludogorets, Lazio's triumph over Ajax at the Johan Cruijff Arena further solidified their standing in both the group stage and the UEFA rankings.

UEFA recently updated the Club Coefficients rankings following the sixth matchday of the Champions League and Europa League, and the fifth in the Conference League. Lazio has climbed to 24th place, overtaking Ajax, Napoli, and Eintracht Frankfurt. This upward trajectory marks an impressive rise, considering they started the competition around 33rd place. With two group-stage matches and the round of 16 ahead, Lazio has the potential to ascend even further.

So far, Lazio have earned 11 points in this European campaign. Last season, they accumulated 18 coefficient points (4 wins, 1 draw, 3 losses), slightly improving on the 17 points achieved in the 2020/21 season. Notably, the UEFA coefficient reflects a club’s performance over the past five years (from 2020/21 to 2024/25) without factoring in national association scores, except in the case of ties. Each Europa League win adds 2 points, a draw adds 1, and securing the top spot in the group stage earns a 4-point bonus. From the round of 16 onward, each progression adds an additional point, highlighting the importance of a strong ranking for favorable draws.

At the top of the rankings are Manchester City, followed by Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, and Roma. Completing the top ten are PSG, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Inter, and Villarreal. Among Italian clubs, Atalanta sits in 19th, Milan in 21st, Juventus in 22nd, and Napoli in 26th, with Lazio now in 24th. Fiorentina holds 35th place, while Bologna rounds out the Italian presence in 90th.
