Lazio Boosted By Castrovilli's Return, But Injury Concerns Persist Ahead Of Napoli Clashes

Lazio midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli has reportedly made significant progress in his recovery following surgery and has rejoined team training ahead of upcoming matches against Napoli in the Coppa Italia and Serie A.

The 27-year-old joined Lazio on a free transfer last summer after parting ways with Fiorentina due to persistent injuries. Despite the move, his start in Rome was hampered by health setbacks, including a left meniscus injury that required surgical intervention.

According to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Castrovilli has now resumed training with the squad. While he has been medically cleared, the Euro 2020 winner still needs to regain full match fitness. Nonetheless, he could make an appearance as a substitute in Thursday’s Coppa Italia match against Napoli.

Meanwhile, Boulaye Dia remains sidelined after spraining his ankle during Lazio’s goalless Europa League draw against Ludogorets last Thursday. The 28-year-old missed last weekend’s game against Parma and is awaiting further tests to determine his readiness for the Coppa clash, with his availability likely to become clearer in the coming hours.

As for other injury updates, Nuno Tavares and Matias Vecino are both unlikely to feature midweek. Tavares is targeting a return for Lazio’s Serie A match against Napoli, while Vecino, recovering from a muscle injury, is expected to be out for another 10 days.
