Inzaghi: "This Match Is Always Unique For Me. Returning To The Stadio Olimpico Brings Special Emotions. I’ll Always Cherish My Time At Lazio, The Titles I Won As A Player And Coach, And The People I Worked With."
Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is bracing himself for an emotional encounter as his team faces Lazio on Monday, December 16.
Inzaghi, who has deep ties to Lazio both as a player and coach, acknowledged the club as one of the strong contenders for this season's Serie A title.
During his playing career, Inzaghi spent over a decade with Lazio, contributing to their 2000 Serie A title triumph. Later, as head coach, he guided the team for more than five years and secured the Coppa Italia trophy in 2019.
"This match is always unique for me," Inzaghi told Inter TV. "Even though it’s the eighth time I’ve faced Lazio as a coach, returning to the Stadio Olimpico brings special emotions."
Reflecting on his journey with the capital club, Inzaghi expressed gratitude for the memorable moments he experienced.
"I’ll always cherish my time at Lazio, the titles I won as a player and coach, and the people I worked with. I was fortunate to be part of such a journey, and I thank my former teammates and players for that," he said.
However, Inzaghi emphasized his commitment to Inter Milan. After leading the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title last season, he remains focused on building further success at a club where he feels valued and supported.
"Inter is now where I feel at home, where I feel appreciated by everyone. I’m proud of what I’ve achieved here and hope to continue adding to my achievements," he concluded.
