[Coppa Italia] Lazio Set To Face Inter Away In The Coppa Italia Quarter-Finals

This season, Lazio have an impressive start across Serie A, the Europa League, and the Coppa Italia. The Biancoceleste have secured top positions in the Serie A standings and claimed first place in the 36-team European league. Additionally, Baroni’s squad faced Conte’s Napoli at home and earned a decisive 3-1 victory, securing direct qualification to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals—a key competition for Italian teams. Lazio, in particular, are determined to bring a trophy back to Rome this year.  

The Coppa Italia round of 16 is now complete, with Juventus, Atalanta, Roma, and Inter advancing after defeating their opponents. They join Bologna, Milan, Empoli, and Lazio, who had already qualified the previous week.  

The quarter-finals, scheduled for February 5, 2025, promise thrilling encounters between teams from two of Italy’s major football hubs: Rome and Milan. The matches will see Milan face Roma and Inter go head-to-head with Lazio.  

Lazio now prepare for a challenging trip to the San Siro, where the match against Inter will be a straight knockout game. If the score remains tied after 90 minutes, the match will go directly to penalties. Baroni’s team must once again confront a side that has scored the most goals at the Olimpico this season.  

Last year, under coach Sarri, Lazio defeated Roma in the quarter-final derby to secure a spot in the semi-finals, where they faced Juventus in a two-legged tie. Although they narrowly missed out on the final, held at the Olimpico between Juventus and Atalanta, Lazio are eager to make another strong run and aim for the trophy this season.
