Baroni: "I’m Proud Of My Boys. Errors Happen, But They’re Part Of The Proactive Style We’re Implementing. I’d Rather Take These Risks Than Settle For Playing It Safe."

After Lazio's 3-1 loss to Parma in a highly anticipated Serie A clash, Biancoceleste coach Marco Baroni addressed the media during a press conference. Lazio, fresh off a victory against Bologna, aimed to secure another three points but fell short at the Tardini Stadium. Despite their relentless effort, a series of technical mistakes cost them the match against a Parma side eager to bounce back after their defeat to Atalanta.

"I’m proud of my boys," Baroni stated. "It was a tough match, emotionally and physically. The team played with heart and dedication, even though mistakes were made. The third goal doesn’t count much in my eyes; we had lost our balance as we pushed to equalize. The errors stemmed from the style of play we’re committed to. Still, I was impressed with everyone’s performance today."

When asked about Rovella’s disallowed goal and Zaccagni’s denied penalty, Baroni was terse: "I’d rather not comment; otherwise, we’d be here all night."

"In the first half, we got a bit nervous after they took the lead," he reflected. "In the second half, I steered the team back into our rhythm. Statistically, we performed well. It’s a painful loss, especially for our incredible fans who supported us here in Parma. However, I’d rather lose with a strong performance like today’s than win without one. At least this gives me certainty about our progress."

Baroni shouldered responsibility for mistakes made by Rovella and Gila, praising their quality. "Rovella is exceptional, and Gila is among the best defenders I’ve coached. Errors happen, but they’re part of the proactive style we’re implementing. I’d rather take these risks than settle for playing it safe. The team stayed composed and executed our plan, working to exploit the flanks and bypass Parma’s central defense."

"Coaching Lazio is an emotional experience I cherish," Baroni admitted. "This is a culmination of my career’s work, dedication, and results. It’s a wonderful adventure."

"The boys left everything on the pitch and were exhausted afterward," he said. "This attitude is crucial. You can lose games, but when you perform like this, you know you’ve given it your all."

Baroni provided an optimistic injury update: "Castrovilli is almost ready, just days or weeks away. We’re working on recovering Dia, while Vecino’s situation is more complex—he’ll need about ten days. Tavares might be back for Napoli, if not for the cup, then for the league."

Despite the setback, Baroni’s message was clear: Lazio is committed to growth, learning from mistakes, and building on their fighting spirit.
