Albanian Captain Elseid Hysaj On Lecce's Radar Amid Lazio Exit Talks

Lazio are reportedly preparing to part ways with Elseid Hysaj, a defender who has seen limited opportunities this season. Meanwhile, an agreement with Monza for the transfer of Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro has already been reached. Serie A side Lecce are poised to welcome the Albanian international if he departs Formello in the January transfer window.

Hysaj, 30, joined Lazio in the summer of 2021, following a request from his former coach Maurizio Sarri. However, this season he has been excluded from Marco Baroni’s squads for Serie A and the Europa League. His sole appearance was in the Coppa Italia victory against his former team, Napoli, highlighting his declining role at the club and making a transfer seem inevitable.

Journalist Alfredo Pedullà reports that Lecce have emerged as a potential destination for Hysaj. The club are eager to strengthen their options at full-back, particularly on the right side, where Frederic Guilbert has underperformed, and Andy Pelmard is currently suspended due to a DUI incident.

To secure Hysaj’s services, Lecce are likely to propose a loan deal. Despite limited appearances this season, the Albanian captain has a contract with Lazio until June 2026 and delivered an impressive performance in the Coppa Italia, further fueling interest from clubs seeking his experience and versatility.
