[Serie A] Lazio - Cagliari = 2 - 1

Lazio maintained their strong form with a 2-1 victory over Cagliari in a Serie A match on Monday at Rome's Stadio Olimpico.

This win was Lazio's eighth in their last nine games across all competitions, lifting them to fifth place with 22 points.

Lazio struck early, scoring just two minutes in. Luca Pellegrini's free-kick led to a save by Cagliari’s goalkeeper Simone Scuffet, but Boulaye Dia capitalized on the rebound to give the home team the lead.

Despite the early advantage, Cagliari fought back and leveled the score in the 41st minute. Antoine Makoumbou set up Zito Luvumbo, whose deflected shot found the net.

In the second half, Pellegrini again made an impact when he was fouled by Nadir Zortea in the box. After a quick VAR review, Mattia Zaccagni, who had just entered as a substitute, converted the penalty in the 76th minute, putting Lazio up 2-1.

Cagliari's troubles continued after the goal. Yerry Mina received a second yellow card for fouling Taty Castellanos, and Michel Adopo was also sent off for dissent, leaving Cagliari with nine players.

With 22 points from 11 matches, Lazio now sits level with Atalanta in third and only three points behind league leaders Napoli. Under coach Marco Baroni, recently named coach of the month, Lazio is gaining momentum in a closely contested Serie A campaign.
