Lazio Set To Reward Marco Baroni With Contract Extension After Impressive Start

Lazio are reportedly planning to offer coach Marco Baroni a new contract following an impressive start to his tenure at Formello. The 61-year-old, previously successful with Lecce and Hellas Verona, faced initial skepticism due to his lack of experience managing a top-tier club. However, his results and performances this season have silenced the doubters.

Under Baroni’s leadership, Lazio currently sit fourth in the Serie A standings, just one point behind league leaders Napoli. Additionally, they lead their Europa League group with a perfect record, further highlighting the coach’s impact.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio president Claudio Lotito sees Baroni’s achievements as deserving of recognition. The club is preparing to extend his contract from its current expiration in June 2026 to 2028, with a significant salary increase. Baroni, who currently earns around €1.3 million annually plus bonuses, could see his base salary rise to €2 million, with potential bonuses reaching an additional €500,000.

Club officials are expected to make a formal approach in the coming weeks or by January. Beyond securing Baroni’s future, the club is also focused on retaining key players. Veteran players Pedro and Matias Vecino, both in the final year of their contracts, are likely to receive renewal offers. Meanwhile, Lazio are considering replacing Adam MaruÅ¡ić with a younger right-back next season to further strengthen the squad.
