Lazio Set To Make Serious Move For Maldini In January Transfer Window
Lazio are reportedly eyeing Monza's midfielder Daniel Maldini, an AC Milan academy graduate, for a potential January transfer. Maldini, who has drawn attention with his strong performances, has become a target for several top Serie A clubs.
The 23-year-old, son of AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini and grandson of Cesare Maldini, initially trained with Milan's academy before moving to secure more consistent playing time. After loan stints with Spezia and Empoli, he joined Monza on loan last January and was signed permanently last summer. Under the guidance of Alessandro Nesta, Maldini has made significant progress, earning him his senior national team debut earlier this month.
His promising form has caught the eye of Serie A's top teams, including Inter and Juventus. Additionally, Milan could benefit from a 50% sell-on clause if they opt to re-sign their former player.
According to Italian journalist Damiano Er Faina, Lazio—who are looking to inject youth into their squad, following their summer transfer strategy—are now seriously considering signing Maldini in January.
