Boulaye Dia Cleared Of Malaria, Set To Rejoin Lazio Training Ahead Of Serie A Return

November 19, 2024

Positive updates have surfaced from Senegal regarding Lazio striker Boulaye Dia. Recent medical tests confirmed that the 28-year-old is free from malaria, alleviating fears after he felt unwell earlier this week. Dia was sidelined for Senegal's 1-0 win over Burkina Faso on Thursday due to symptoms that initially resembled malaria, prompting further medical evaluations.

Remaining under observation at the team's training camp in Dakar, Dia received the all-clear, as reported by wiwsport.com, coinciding with his 28th birthday on November 16—a fitting reason for celebration.

Lazio later confirmed that Dia will return to Rome and resume training on Tuesday. In an official statement, the club announced:

"Lazio confirm that, following ongoing communication with the Senegalese federation, Boulaye Dia will return to Rome tomorrow and will resume training at Formello on Tuesday."

Although Dia has been ruled out of Senegal's upcoming match against Burundi, he is expected to feature in Lazio's next Serie A clash against Bologna at the Stadio Olimpico.

Dia has made a strong impression in his debut season with Lazio, tallying 4 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches. His contributions have played a vital role in keeping the team competitive at the upper end of the Serie A standings.
