Baroni: "The Team Showed The Courage To Play Attacking Football Right From The Start, Which Is Exactly What We Aim For. Everyone Must Feel They Have A Role To Play, And I Work On This Constantly."

Marco Baroni praised Lazio’s aggressive approach from the outset, asserting that their 3-0 victory over Bologna in Sunday’s (Nov. 24) Serie A match at the Stadio Olimpico was well-deserved, even before Bologna’s red card.

The Biancoceleste extended their remarkable form, securing seven consecutive wins across Serie A and the Europa League. Their only blemish during this run was a 1-0 loss to Juventus on October 19, where they played with ten men. Without that setback, Lazio could have been celebrating 11 straight victories.

"The team showed the courage to play attacking football right from the start, which is exactly what we aim for," Baroni shared with DAZN.

"We’re thrilled with the result, for both the club and the fans. I want this team to always maintain this identity and approach every match with the same determination."

The victory was crucial for Lazio to hold onto second place, level on points with Inter, Atalanta, and Fiorentina, especially as other top teams also won over the weekend.

The match was no walk in the park, as Bologna, led by Vincenzo Italiano, came in with three consecutive Serie A wins. However, the turning point arrived in the 35th minute when Tommaso Pobega received a second yellow card for a foul on Matteo Guendouzi.

Lazio finally broke through in the 68th minute with Samuel Gigot’s header from a corner. Mattia Zaccagni doubled the lead, and Fisayo Dele-Bashiru added the finishing touch with a late counterattack goal. Despite Nuno Tavares missing the match, Manuel Lazzari and Luca Pellegrini shone in the full-back roles.

"I always emphasize the need to be aggressive, and we showed that from the start against a Bologna side in great form," Baroni continued. "Even before the red card, we pressed them and controlled the game as we intended."

Baroni also highlighted the contributions of substitutes, who scored two of the three goals.

"I rely on all my players. Everyone must feel they have a role to play, and I work on this constantly. For me, it’s about having 22 first-team players, especially when competing in three major tournaments."
