Mauri: "I'm Impressed By Lazio's Transformation. Seeing Them Be So Competitive Right Away Is Remarkable. Lazio Can Achieve Great Things"

The international break ended yesterday: several Biancocelesti players found the net, such as Guendouzi, Dele-Bashiru, Dia and Isaksen. Lazio is ready to dive into the championship, with the match against Juventus scheduled for Saturday. Speaking to Corriere della Sera, Stefano Mauri spoke about Lazio's decision to hire Marco Baroni in the summer and expressed his opinion on the new signings.

"I'm impressed by Lazio's transformation. They've changed their coach, several players, and even their style of play. Seeing them be so competitive right away is remarkable," said former Lazio captain "Baroni? Lazio made the right choice in hiring him," he added, "even though many had doubts. It turned out to be a smart move."

Speaking about Baroni, Mauri noted that he gets his teams to play well and helps players improve, even though he lacks international experience. In his early European outings, he's made no missteps. "Lazio can achieve great things," he continued. "The team is built to compete in every competition, with all positions well covered and balanced."

Among the new signings, Mauri highlighted one standout: "It's easy to mention Nuno Tavares, who is outstanding—he's always pushing forward, with great technique and physical strength." But he's not the only one. "Don't underestimate Dia. Whether as the main striker or playing behind another forward, he's making an impact," he explained. Looking ahead to the match against Juventus, Mauri added, "The result won't define the season—it’s still early days. However, a win would boost confidence and self-belief."
