[Europa League] Lazio - Nice = 4 - 1
Lazio have made an ideal start to their Europa League campaign, leading the group after two matches.
The Italian side claimed a 4-1 victory over OGC Nice at the Stadio Olimpico, putting them ahead of major clubs like Olympique Lyonnais, Tottenham Hotspur, Anderlecht, and Steaua Bucharest based on goal difference, with goals coming from Pedro, Taty Castellanos, and Mattia Zaccagni.
This victory preserved Lazio's perfect record in the competition, following their 3-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in their first game. Lazio now sit at the top of the standings with six points and a goal difference of +6, surpassing Lyon (+5), Tottenham and Steaua Bucharest (+4), and Anderlecht (+2).
New coach Baroni has demonstrated his tactical prowess, with Lazio displaying dominant play, combining effective attacks with strong defense. The four goals they scored highlighted their attacking threat, while Nice could only manage a single response.
Thanks to this strong performance, Lazio has emerged as one of the favorites in the Europa League. Meanwhile, their city rivals AS Roma have struggled, earning only one point from two games and currently sitting 27th with a goal difference of -1. If the competition ended today, Roma would be eliminated, while Lazio is in a strong position to advance to the round of 16.
The top eight teams will automatically qualify for the round of 16, while teams ranked 9th to 24th must go through a playoff round.
