Baroni: "The Team Must Improve With Every Game. We’re Ambitious, As Are The Fans And The Club, And Maintaining High Performance Is Crucial To Reach Our Goals."
Coach Marco Baroni expressed pride in Lazio's strong 3-0 victory over Genoa on Sunday (10/27) at the Stadio Olimpico, commending both the team’s performance and their overall philosophy.
Lazio earned a full three points with goals from Tijjani Noslin, Pedro, and Matias Vecino. Baroni shared his satisfaction with how the squad executed his vision for the club's future. He emphasized the value of squad depth and the importance of each player’s contribution, as he told DAZN: "I'm pleased that Noslin, a non-starter, scored and that two substitutes also netted goals. This reflects our philosophy that every player must be ready to give their best."
Baroni also highlighted his focus on continuous team growth, saying, "The team must improve with every game. We challenge ourselves in training and on the field. We’re ambitious, as are the fans and the club, and maintaining high performance is crucial to reach our goals." He discussed his tactical approach, adding, "Positional football is in the past. We need more horizontal movement, and the players are committed to this concept."
He acknowledged his players’ progress in understanding his strategy: "There will be tough times, but I always tell them that giving everything makes those moments manageable. The team got the message, and it resonated with the fans."
However, Baroni noted areas for improvement in Lazio’s play: "In the first half, we weren’t sharp enough in finding space between the lines. He came too far forward, not staying behind the midfielders as intended. Their defense was tight, and our ball movement was a bit slow. Despite this, the team demonstrated maturity."
