[Serie A] Lazio - Hellas Verona = 2 - 1
Lazio secured a 2-1 victory against Hellas Verona in their Serie A clash on Monday, September 16, 2024, at Stadio Olimpico, with all three goals coming within the first 20 minutes.
Marco Baroni's team entered the game with a mixed record of one win, one draw, and one loss from their previous three matches before the international break.
Verona, on the other hand, had the chance to level on points with Napoli in second place if they could secure a win.
The game began at a fast pace, with Lazio taking the lead in the fifth minute. Mattia Zaccagni delivered a long pass to Boulaye Dia, who controlled the ball inside the box and placed a low shot into the corner past Verona’s goalkeeper Lorenzo Montipò.
However, Verona quickly equalized less than two minutes later. Diego Coppola capitalized on a defensive lapse from Lazio’s center-backs, setting up Casper Tengstedt, who easily beat Ivan Provedel in a one-on-one.
Lazio regained the lead before the 20th minute when Zaccagni's corner found Taty Castellanos, whose improvised volley made it 2-1.
The victory lifted Lazio to sixth place in Serie A after four matches, just one point behind Torino in fifth and one point ahead of Verona, who sit in seventh.
