[Serie A] Fiorentina - Lazio = 2 - 1

Fiorentina staged a comeback to defeat Lazio 2-1 at home in their Italian League clash at the Artemio Franchi stadium in Florence on Sunday, thanks to two second-half penalties converted by Icelandic forward Albert Gudmundsson.

This marked Fiorentina's first win of the season, moving them up to 12th place with six points. Meanwhile, Lazio dropped to 8th with seven points.

Both goalkeepers were tested early in the match. Lazio's Ivan Provedel stopped an attempt by Andrea Colpani with his feet, while Fiorentina's David de Gea blocked a shot from Mattia Zaccagni.

Lazio opened the scoring in the 41st minute when Nuno Tavares delivered a free kick, which Mario Gila headed past De Gea. Lazio held their 1-0 lead into halftime.

Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino introduced Gudmundsson for Lucas Martinez Quarta at the start of the second half, a substitution that quickly paid off. Gudmundsson was fouled by Matteo Guendouzi in the 49th minute, earning Fiorentina a penalty, which he converted to make it 1-1.

Guendouzi had two opportunities to make up for his error. His first shot was saved by De Gea, and his header from a corner went over the crossbar.

In the 90th minute, Lazio conceded another penalty after Nuno Tavares fouled Dodo in the box. Despite a VAR review, the decision stood, and Gudmundsson calmly slotted in the winner, sealing Fiorentina's victory.
