Sarri: "Lazio's Resignation? It Was A Moment Of Personal And Emotional Vulnerability. Some Situations Didn’t Sit Right With Me. Boca Juniors Would Be My Last Wild Dream, But I’m Not Sure It Will Ever Happen."
Former Lazio, Napoli, and Juventus manager Maurizio Sarri has shared his intentions to return to coaching soon.
In an interview with Gazzetta, the 65-year-old revealed his hope of resuming his coaching career before January, depending on the offers and motivation that come his way.
After stepping down from Lazio in March, Sarri is eager to take on a new challenge that will bring more excitement.
"I hope to return before January, but it will depend on the circumstances and the opportunities I get," Sarri stated.
He emphasized that, despite the current trend favoring younger coaches, he still has much to contribute to football.
Sarri also commented on Napoli's new coach, Antonio Conte, saying he believes Conte has the potential to lead the club into a new chapter.
"I admire Conte. He’s not only an excellent coach but also someone who can push a club to invest," Sarri said.
He added that while Napoli is likely to enter an important phase under Conte, winning a title may not happen immediately. Sarri also mentioned Napoli's president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, describing him as impulsive but key to the club's progress.
Sarri also reflected on his departure from Lazio.
"It was a moment of personal and emotional vulnerability. Some situations didn’t sit right with me. In such cases, either the coach extends his contract or resigns, and I chose to resign," Sarri explained.
Additionally, Sarri admitted he has a dream of coaching outside Europe, naming Boca Juniors as a potential destination.
"Boca Juniors would be my last wild dream, but I’m not sure it will ever happen. Playing a few games at the Bombonera would be a one-of-a-kind experience," he added.
