[Official] Lombardi Announces Retirement As A Football Player, Embarks On New Role As Lazio Youth Coach

Cristiano Lombardi, one of the standout talents to emerge from the Inzaghi-Bollini era of Lazio's Primavera, announced his retirement from football yesterday via social media. Born in 1995, Lombardi boasts an impressive list of achievements, including winning a Primavera Championship, an Italian Primavera Cup, a Primavera Super Cup, and an Italian Super Cup with Lazio’s first team—accomplishments that fill him with pride as part of the Biancoceleste family.

Although Lombardi is stepping away from playing, he isn’t leaving the sport entirely. The winger, who made 19 appearances for Lazio’s First Team and scored against Atalanta, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. Lombardi revealed that he will remain with Lazio, transitioning into a coaching role within the club’s youth sector.

In his post, Lombardi wrote, "The moment I tried to delay as much as possible has come. After months of deep reflection, I decided some time ago to stop playing football. I want to thank all the clubs, teammates, and coaches who have taught me so much throughout my journey, both the good and the bad. Now, I’m starting a new adventure at a young age, full of energy and excitement to experience it all again. Thanks to Lazio for allowing me to begin this coaching journey—I won’t disappoint. See you on the pitch."
