[Europa League] Dynamo Kyiv - Lazio = 0 - 3

Lazio began their Europa League journey with a 3-0 victory over Dynamo Kyiv at the neutral Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, due to the conflict in Ukraine. The win, however, was overshadowed by controversial officiating, including two red cards.

Boulaye Dia shone with two goals, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru also found the net. Lazio were missing Samuel Gigot due to injury, and both Taty Castellanos and Tijjani Noslin were limited to the bench. Dynamo Kyiv were also without key players like Matviy Ponomarenko and Denys Popov.

In this season's Europa League, all teams play in one large group, each facing eight different teams—four at home and four away. The top eight qualify directly, while teams placed 9th-24th compete in the play-offs, and those finishing 25th-36th are eliminated.

Lazio struck early, with Dia capitalizing on a failed clearance from Dynamo to finish a one-two with Pedro. Dynamo's troubles deepened when defender Brayan Ceballos suffered a severe thigh injury.

Two quick goals sealed the win. Matias Vecino pounced on an error from Volodymyr Brazhko, setting up Dele-Bashiru, who powered the ball into the net. Seconds later, Dele-Bashiru crossed for Dia, who headed home for his second goal.

Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel made crucial saves, denying both Mykola Shaparenko's free-kick and a shot from Andriy Yarmolenko.

Controversy flared when Dynamo’s Maksym Braharu was sent off after stepping on Mattia Zaccagni’s ankle, following a VAR review. Lazio’s Noslin also received a red card just three minutes into his appearance for elbowing Oleksandr Dubinchak.

Despite the chaos, Lazio maintained their lead, with Provedel stopping Vladyslav Vanat’s free-kick to secure the clean sheet. While Lazio starts their Europa League campaign on a high note, they will need to address their disciplinary issues in future matches.
