Baroni: "It's Hard To Digest This Loss. I Don’t Want To Spark Controversy, But Right Now I'm Focused On The Performance, Which Was Strong And Meaningful. It’s Disappointing Because We Had Chances To Seal The Game."

Lazio struggled to build on their win against Verona, falling 2-1 to Fiorentina at the Franchi. Although the Biancocelesti took the lead with a goal from Gila, two second-half penalties converted by Gudmundsson turned the game around, giving Fiorentina their first win of the season. After the match, coach Marco Baroni shared his thoughts in the press conference.

"It's hard to digest this loss. I don’t want to spark controversy, but right now I'm focused on the performance, which was strong and meaningful. It’s disappointing because we had chances to seal the game. We had more possession and opportunities, so losing hurts. But I’d rather have a strong showing than a mediocre one. As for the penalties, we have a capable refereeing team, but it’s tough for coaches to train defensively when situations like this occur. In the first case, Guendouzi pulled his foot back. Football is about entertainment, and for that, we need fast-paced, dynamic play."

"Noslin was very active and caused trouble for their defense. He’s young, but I think he performed well. Dia had two or three solid chances to score. I’d be worried if we weren’t creating chances, but with our offensive output today, I’m satisfied."

"Dia twisted his ankle early on, but he gave his all in these matches. By halftime, I could see he was struggling, so I decided to bring on Pedro, who is a key player for us."

"Castrovilli is one of Italy's top midfielders. He has the versatility to play in any midfield position, even as an attacking midfielder."

"We’ve been producing a lot. I’m not sure about the stats for this match, but we led in corners, shots on target, and entries into the box. We’re progressing, and as long as the team keeps working on both phases, we’re on the right track."

"When I made substitutions, I believed we could win. I don’t like instructing the team to sit back. We’re developing our identity, and there are many positives. I aim to put my players in the best positions without changing our system. We’re now creating more chances than before."

"Dialogue between coaches and referees must be open. After the game, I shared my thoughts, and sometimes we need to refine our interpretations or adjust our approach to match officiating."
