Valentin Castellanos Is Ready To Lead Lazio's Offense After Immobile's Departure
Valentin Castellanos' pre-season performance is drawing considerable attention, with many viewing the Argentine striker as a suitable successor to Ciro Immobile as the leading attacker for Lazio in the 2024/25 season.
Following Ciro Immobile's transfer to Besiktas this summer, Castellanos has stepped up at Lazio, becoming a key player under coach Marco Baroni's guidance.
The 25-year-old struggled for consistent playing time in his debut season with The Aquile, often seen as Immobile's understudy. He started only 16 league matches and netted four goals in Serie A during his first year in Italy.
Immobile's recent move to Besiktas has created an opportunity for Castellanos, who is now viewed as the primary striker by both Baroni and president Claudio Lotito.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Castellanos has impressed in pre-season, scoring in a 3-0 victory over Hansa Rostock and starting to make his mark in Rome.
Although there were rumors linking him to Girona earlier this month, Lazio is keen to retain the 25-year-old striker, recognizing his potential and talent, especially with the impending sale of Artem Dovbyk to Roma.
