Torino And Cagliari Compete For Unsettled Lazio Midfielder Danilo Cataldi
Two Serie A clubs, Torino and Cagliari, are reportedly gearing up to compete for Lazio midfielder Danilo Cataldi this summer. Torino is currently leading the chase for the player, who is rumored to be discontent in Rome.
The once harmonious relationship between Lazio and Danilo Cataldi could end on a sour note, with Torino and Cagliari eager to seize the opportunity to sign him. The 29-year-old, a lifelong supporter of The Aquile and a product of the club's academy, has only left Formello on loan and has been a team member since 2018.
However, the midfielder has faced a challenging few months, including a notable conflict with president Claudio Lotito. This conflict reached a boiling point recently when Cataldi, despite being the club's longest-serving player, was passed over for the captaincy in favor of Mattia Zaccagni.
Despite the Biancoceleste's efforts to quash the rumors, it appears that the rift between Cataldi and the club may lead to his departure. According to Corriere dello Sport, Cataldi is now on the transfer list, with Torino in the best position to acquire him, while Cagliari is also in the running.
Additionally, a meeting between Cataldi and the club's management was reportedly scheduled but postponed for unknown reasons. As it stands, any suitable offer for the midfielder will be considered by The Aquile.
