[Serie A] Lazio - Venezia = 3 - 1

Lazio kicked off their 2024/2025 Italian League campaign with a 3-1 victory over Venezia at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, despite missing Mario Gila because of injury.

Venezia, though newly promoted, posed a significant challenge and even took an early lead. Magnus Kofod Andersen struck in the third minute, capitalizing on a pass from Mikael Ellertsson to beat Ivan Provedel.

Marco Baroni faced a tough beginning in his first match as Lazio's coach, but his team quickly responded. They leveled the score when Taty Castellanos seized on a defensive error by Venezia.

Just before halftime, Lazio earned a penalty when Noslin's cross found Castellanos, who was fouled by Marin Sverko. Zaccagni stepped up and converted the penalty, narrowly beating goalkeeper Joronen to make it 2-1. The score remained unchanged at the break.

The second half saw a closely contested battle, with both teams creating opportunities, although Lazio had the upper hand. Despite several near misses, Lazio eventually sealed their win when Manuel Lazzari's cross from the right led to an own goal by Giorgio Altare, who was trying to block Loum Tchaouna’s effort. The 3-1 scoreline stood until the final whistle.
