[Official] Panserraikos Secure Fares On Loan From Lazio

Lazio's outcasted defender Mohamed Fares is reportedly finalizing a transfer to the Greek club Panserraikos, having accepted their offer.

The 28-year-old full-back, who has both French and Algerian roots, has finalized his move to Greece in the coming days. Fares began his career with Bordeaux and Hellas Verona, eventually gaining recognition during his time at SPAL, which led to his recruitment by Lazio in 2020. However, injuries and underwhelming performances prevented him from securing a spot in the first team.

As a result, Fares was loaned out to Torino, Genoa, and most recently Brescia, and has remained on the fringes at Formello since returning to Lazio this summer. According to Il Corriere dello Sport, he has now found a temporary home with Panserraikos, a Greek club based in Serres, central Macedonia. The loan deal does not include an option or obligation for the Greek side to purchase him permanently.

Although Panserraikos competes in Greece’s top league, they are not considered one of the country's elite clubs. Nevertheless, Lazio hopes that Fares will perform well enough in Greece to secure a permanent transfer next summer. His contract with Lazio runs until June 2026.

The club issued the following statement regarding the move: "S.S. Lazio announces the temporary transfer until 30/06/2025 of the player Mohamed Salim Fares to the Greek club FC Panserraikos 1946."
