[Official] Castellanos Earns Argentina Call-Up For His Recent Stellar Performance

After an outstanding performance in Lazio's Serie A opener against Venezia, striker Taty Castellanos has earned his first call-up to the Argentina squad for the 2024 World Cup qualifiers in September.

The 25-year-old joined Lazio last season but initially found limited playing time under Maurizio Sarri, who favored former captain and top scorer Ciro Immobile. However, Castellanos' fortunes changed with the arrival of Igor Tudor in March, and he has since become Lazio's first-choice striker following Immobile's departure.

In the match against Venezia, Castellanos was named Man of the Match after a stellar performance. He scored the equalizer, skillfully outmaneuvering a defender, and later won the penalty that put Lazio ahead in their 3-1 victory.

As a result of his impressive display, Castellanos was called up to the Argentina national team. Coach Lionel Scaloni included him in a star-studded attack featuring Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez, Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez, and Juventus-bound winger Nicolas Gonzalez.

In the 2024 World Cup qualifiers, Argentina will host Chile on September 5 before traveling to face Colombia five days later.
